The Egg and I has been rated the best breakfast in Englewood for the price.
• Review: Several years ago The Egg and I would have been the last place Id have chosen for breakfast, however, a couple of months ago a friend insisted I meet him there for breakfast. I was amazed how much the quality had improved from my last visit of over five years ago.
Since that meeting, Ive eaten there ten more times and The Egg and I continues to be my Breakfast Place of choice.
The portions of their #4 breakfast are large. The price of .00 is well worth paying, and the waitresses are a joy to be around. Actually, I would go there just to carry on with the waitresses over coffee, which is excellent.
Also, and finally, the interior of the establishment is very clean and gives the impression of visiting grandmas house. I love the place !

Dr. C. Romesh Weerasooriya (Dr. Mesh) is a native of Englewood. Having grown up in Englewood from the age of 7, he graduated from Lemon Bay High School in 1986. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida in 1990 and Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1994, he returned to his hometown where he practices dentistry along with his brother Dr. Shanaka.
Shanaka L. Weerasooriya, DMD
Dr. Shanaka, son of long-time Englewood physician Dr. “Lucky” and Ruvini Weerasooriya, was raised in Englewood since the age of three. A former Lemon Bay High School basketball standout, Dr. Shanaka played collegiate basketball at Florida Southern College. He received his dental degree from the University of Florida in 2000 when he joined his brother Dr. Mesh in practice and created Art in Dentistry. He is pleased to be back in the community with his beautiful wife, Rana, and daughter, Gianna. While he no longer plays basketball, Dr. Shanaka still plays tennis weekly and enjoys fishing with his two brothers.
