C. Romesh Weerasooriya, DMD Dr. C. Romesh Weerasooriya (Dr. Mesh) is a native of Englewood. Having grown up in Englewood from the age of 7, he graduated from Lemon Bay High School in 1986. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida in 1990 and Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry in 1994, he returned to his hometown where he practices dentistry along with his brother Dr. Shanaka. Shanaka L. Weerasooriya, DMD Dr. Shanaka, son of long-time Englewood physician Dr. “Lucky” and Ruvini Weerasooriya, was raised in Englewood since the age of three. A former Lemon Bay High School basketball standout, Dr. Shanaka played collegiate basketball at Florida Southern College. He received his dental degree from the University of Florida in 2000 when he joined his brother Dr. Mesh in practice and created Art in Dentistry. He is pleased to be back in the community with his beautiful wife, Rana, and daughter, Gianna. While he no longer plays basketball, Dr. Shanaka still plays tennis weekly and enjoys fishing with his two brothers. Life should be filled with smiles.
